First Presbyterian Church, EPC is a loving community of believers and seekers who come from the Levelland area. Our location reminds us that we are a mission-minded fellowship, seeking to reach out in love to hurting people and hungry hearts.
First Presbyterian Church is affiliated with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, a network of like-minded churches around the country. “Evangelical,” which comes from a word that means “good news,” refers to the message of Christ, good news for the world. It’s important to share faith in Christ, not keep it to ourselves or for ourselves.
“Presbyterian” refers to the way we share leadership in the church. It comes from the word used in the Bible for “elder,” when mature people were looked to for leadership. In Presbyterian churches “elders” are those the congregation choose and call to lead the church. Presbyterians have their roots in the Protestant Reformation.
As Presbyterians we believe in one baptism in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit for the forgiveness of sins. All who have been baptized are invited to share Holy Communion, which FPC celebrates on the first Sunday of each month and on special occasions.

The Presbyterian Church has a rich and exciting history. Like all Christian churches, the Presbyterians trace their roots back to the early church in Jerusalem.
The word "Presbyterian" comes from a biblical word meaning "elder." The Presbyterian Church is a representative democracy governed by elders elected from and by the congregation. These elders are considered to be the wisest members of the church.
Teaching elders (pastors) and ruling leaders (lay men and women) serve together on a church board, the "Session." It is the Session that has the authority in the local congregation.
Elders are elected from the congregation for three-year terms. They are responsible for the physical and spiritual oversight of the whole church.
